Buckley Police Department Citizen's Academy


If you live or work within the city limits of Buckley, Wilkeson, or Carbonado, you are invited to apply to the Buckley Police Department Citizen’s Academy. The Academy is a 9-week in-person class with up to 25 participants. Learn all about the Buckley Police Department, enjoy a K-9 demonstration, participate in a shoot-or-don't-shoot simulation scenario, see a spike strip deployment demonstration, and more! Our goal is to build a relationship with the residential and business community. After completing the Police Citizen’s Academy, participants will better understand the criminal justice system and local police services. There is no fee to attend the class.


Academy Information
The 2024 Police Citizen’s Academy will begin on February 1st and end on March 28th. We will meet Thursday nights from 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM at Glacier Middle School. The class will also participate in activities and a final mock scene day on Saturday, March 23rd from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Graduation will be held on March 29th. The link to the Academy flyer is at the bottom of the page. 


Academy Requirements
Applicants must be 18 years old, have a valid driver’s license, have no felony or domestic violence convictions, and misdemeanor arrests will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. All applicants are subject to a limited background check conducted by the Buckley Police Department. Preference will be given to applicants who live and/or work within the city limits of Buckley, Wilkeson, or Carbonado.
