Permit Information

How to Apply:

  • Choose the applicable permit application from the list below
  • Land use permits must be approved before a building permit application
  • Plans must be complete at the time of submittal
  • Commercial projects are required to submit building, plumbing, and mechanical permit applications simultaneously. Deferred submittals are no longer accepted.
  • Residential projects only require a building permit at the time of submittal.
  • Once the documents have been reviewed, the permit technician will enter the permit into our permit system. An email will then be sent with payment information.
  • Once payment has been received, the receipt will be sent electronically or provided in person.
  • Note: The City does not process permits for work within mobile homes. Please contact the state Department of Labor and Industries (L&I).

Permit Revisions:

All revision submittals should include a revision summary. The revised pages should be marked with the revision number and date, and revisions should be called out by being clouded. Email a copy of the Revision Submittal Form . The permit technician will contact you and provide steps on how to proceed.


Request an inspection:

Request your inspection by calling (253) 797-7337 and leaving a voicemail with your name, permit #, inspection address, and preferred AM/PM time. The City completes inspections on Monday-Thursday between 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and Fridays from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. Calls must be received before 2 PM on the prior business day for a next-day inspection.


Permit Approval:

  • An email from the Permit Technicians will be sent advising that the permit(s) have been approved. This will include the remaining balance due and whether the contractor information is required before issuance.
    • We accept Visa, MasterCard, or check(s) (payable to the City of Buckley).
    • Please note if the check is returned as NSF, there will be an applicable fee, and the permit will be revoked until another form of payment is received.
  • Once the final payment has been received, you will receive an email that the approved plans will be available for download or pick-up. BUILDING PERMITS: Please print out one full-size set of plans and keep them on-site for inspection.
